Explore Current Releases →Traminette is a white hybrid grape with a famous parent: Gewürztraminer. Bred in 1965 at the University of Illinois and later developed at Cornell University’s New York State Agricultural Experiment Station, Traminette was created by crossing the famously aromatic Gewürztraminer with Joannes Seyve 23.416, a French-American hybrid. The goal was to produce a grape that captured the expressive qualities of Gewürztraminer while offering greater cold hardiness and disease resistance—traits essential for successful viticulture in cooler climates like the Finger Lakes, the Midwest, and other parts of the Northeastern United States.

Traminette offers a sensory experience that is both bold and elegant. On the nose, expect lush floral aromas reminiscent of honeysuckle, rose petal, and orange blossom, layered with the distinctive spice of clove, ginger, and allspice that Gewürztraminer lovers will instantly recognize. Medium-bodied with notes of candied lemon, peach, and pear, with a zesty citrus backbone that provides balance and freshness.
