Understanding the Awards

The New York Wine Classic celebrates the quality and diversity of wines produced across New York State. This year, more than 900 wines from over 500 New York wineries were entered, making recognition among this field especially meaningful.

A Gold Medal recognizes wines that demonstrate exceptional quality, character, and balance. Twelve of our wines earned Gold Medals this year, spanning Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, Merlot, Saperavi, sparkling wines, and late harvest bottlings.

A Platinum Medal represents an even higher distinction among the competition’s top-performing wines. Our 2024 Winemakers Reserve TBA Riesling earned 96 points and a Platinum Medal before going on to receive one of the competition’s top honors: Best Late Harvest Wine.

To see such a broad range of wines recognized alongside the best being produced across New York State is something our entire team is incredibly proud to share.

Gold Medal | 95 Points
2024 Classic Gewürztraminer

Expressive and aromatic, our Classic Gewürztraminer showcases the distinctive character that makes this variety so well suited to the Finger Lakes. Rich fruit and floral character lead to a long, clean, soft finish, creating a wine equally at home as an apéritif or alongside dried fruits and cheeses, curries, and spicy dishes.

2024 Standing Stone Late Harvest Cayuga White

Sold Out! 2025 Vintage Coming Soon.

Harvested late from the biodynamically farmed Standing Stone Vineyard, this dessert wine is kissed by noble rot and rich with character. Extended ripening concentrates the fruit while preserving the acidity needed for balance, bringing together luscious sweetness, honeyed character, Granny Smith apple, and a smooth, lingering finish.

Gold Medal | 94 Points
2021 Winemakers Reserve Blanc de Noirs

Crafted from Zweigelt grown on Seneca Lake’s southwest slopes, our first Blanc de Noirs is a traditional-method sparkling wine aged en tirage to develop complexity, depth, and a fine, creamy mousse. Bright red fruit, brioche, and orange blossom meet hazelnut and flinty minerality, with vibrant acidity carrying the wine through a long, crisp finish.

Gold Medal | 94 Points
2020 Winemakers Reserve Saperavi

Sourced from Seneca Arrowhead Vineyard on the southwest side of Seneca Lake, this Saperavi is bold, structured, and deeply expressive. Extended aging in a single large-format puncheon brings layers of black cherry, plum, blackberry, graphite, cedar, and warm spice, while fine-grained tannins and lively acidity carry into a long, structured finish.

Gold Medal | 93 Points
2024 Seneca Arrowhead Riesling

Sourced from the historic Seneca Arrowhead Vineyard on Seneca Lake’s southwestern slopes, this Riesling reflects a site long known for producing fruit of intensity and character. Citrus, green apple, and floral notes meet refreshing acidity and slate-like minerality, creating a focused expression of both Riesling and this distinctive Finger Lakes vineyard.

Gold Medal | 93 Points
2024 HJW Late Harvest Riesling

The near-perfect 2024 growing season provided ideal conditions for extended hang time, allowing Riesling from HJW Vineyard to develop concentrated flavors while retaining bright Finger Lakes acidity. Harvested late at 36.2° Brix, the wine opens with Meyer lemon, nectarine, guava, pineapple, and subtle white flowers, followed by a honeyed, rounded palate balanced by vibrant acidity and a bright, lingering finish.

Sourced exclusively from Tuller Vineyards, this Riesling captures the elegance of a remarkable Finger Lakes site. Cool fermentation and extended lees aging preserve vibrant fruit and bright acidity, with lime, tart grapefruit, green mango, and gooseberry layered over wet-stone and slate minerality before a long, focused finish.

Gold Medal | 91 Points
2022 Winemakers Reserve Merlot

A warm, dry 2022 season gave Merlot the extended ripening conditions it needs to thrive in the Finger Lakes. Aged for 24 months in new and neutral oak, the wine layers cranberry, red plum, pomegranate, and black raspberry with cedar, cocoa, black tea, and warm baking spice, creating a structured expression of cool-climate Merlot with the freshness to continue developing in the cellar.

Gold Medal | 90 Points
2022 Winemakers Reserve Cuvée

Crafted from Pink Catawba in the traditional Méthode Champenoise, our Winemakers Reserve Cuvée is a sparkling tribute to the early history of American wine. Extended lees aging adds depth and texture to its fresh grape, strawberry blossom, soft floral, and orchard fruit character, while lively acidity balances a gentle sweetness and carries the wine to a clean, refreshing finish.

Gold Medal | 90 Points
2025 Nutt Road Chardonnay

Sourced from the gravelly loam soils of Nutt Road Vineyard, this Chardonnay is a study in purity and precision. Fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel with time on fine lees for added texture, it brings together green mango, white nectarine, crisp green apple, underripe pear, wet-stone minerality, and bright acidity, with lemon zest and a saline note carrying through the finish.

Gold Medal | 90 Points
2024 Dynamite Gewürztraminer

From the rocky slopes of Dynamite Vineyard comes the return of a longtime favorite. Fermentation in both stainless steel and oak builds dimension while preserving the expressive aromatic character of Gewürztraminer, with a touch of residual sweetness balanced by freshness and structure for a distinctive expression of this singular Finger Lakes site.

A Celebration of New York Wine

What makes these results especially exciting is their breadth. Riesling and Gewürztraminer stand alongside Chardonnay, Merlot, Saperavi, traditional-method sparkling wines, and late harvest bottlings. They represent everything from our Classic wines to single-vineyard Estate releases and some of the smallest-production wines in our Winemakers Reserve collection.

Together, they tell a much larger story about what is possible in the Finger Lakes.

These awards are also a reflection of the people behind every bottle. From the growers caring for these vineyards throughout the season to our production and cellar teams guiding each wine through harvest, fermentation, aging, and bottling, every one represents countless decisions made with care and precision.

One Platinum Medal. 12 Gold Medals. And Best Late Harvest Wine.

We could not be prouder of the wines, the vineyards, and the team behind them.

Thank you for opening our wines at your tables, sharing them with the people you love, and continuing to be part of the Keuka Spring Vineyards story.

We hope to share a glass with you soon.
