TAILGATE RED
Bluffers Tailgate Red is rooted in the legacy of the bluff of Keuka Lake and the people who have farmed them for generations. The backbone of this wine is Catawba, a native North American grape prized for its hardiness, vigor, and expressive fruit character. The vines produce distinctive copper-hued clusters that ripen in late September through October, thriving in the cool-climate conditions of the Finger Lakes.
The Catawba fruit for this wine is grown just a stone’s throw from the winery by longtime family friend Tom Hunt of Joyful Vineyards, whose careful stewardship and decades of experience have shaped the character of this vineyard. The proximity of Keuka Lake provides moderating influences that support balanced ripening and preserve freshness, resulting in fruit that is both lively and expressive.
The wine was previously known as Clara's Red. Learn more HERE about the change to The Bluffers. It is packed with history and meaning to our community.
Bluffers Tailgate Red is bright, juicy, and effortlessly fun. Ripe cherry flavors lead the palate, supported by a vibrant ruby hue and a touch of sweetness that keeps the wine refreshing and approachable. Crafted from Catawba grapes harvested at optimal ripeness, gentle winemaking preserves aromatic lift, lively fruit character, and freshness throughout. Best served well-chilled.
