2025 POMELO
Our Pomelo is a refreshing blend of Zwiegelt and Vignoles, two very unique grape varietals that you can find in the Finger Lakes. Zweigelt, also known as Rotburger, is a hybrid wine that was developed in Austria around 1922. This grape does exceptionally well in cool climates, and is disease resistant by design. The child of Blaufrankisch and St Laurent, this varietal offers a combination of brambly fruit and peppery spice notes, bright acidity, and soft tannins. This varietal makes for a laid back red, or a fresh rosé. Vignoles, a hybrid with mysterious origin, is a darling of the United States. Originally thought to be a descendant of Ravat 51, which arrived in Northern America in 1949, this grape has a relatively unknown parentage. Vignoles is an incredibly versatile varietal with high natural sugars and acidity, meaning this grape performs beautifully anywhere from dry to sweet. Vignoles offers lovely aromatics and notes of pineapple, apricot, and peach. This grape is sustainable to grow and disease resistant, yet is able to produce botrytis under the proper conditions.
Our bubbly rose, fittingly named after the ancestor of the grapefruit, Pomelo, is a refreshing sip suited for a beautiful summer day. Delicately aromatic, the wine graces the nose with fresh, pink grapefruit, meyer lemon, white strawberry, and a touch of white flowers. This wine offers racy acidity, and an explosion of fruity notes at mid palate with a light mineral finish that pleasantly lingers.
