2020 CHARDONNAY Winemaker Select

Our dry, naked Winemaker Select Chardonnay displays classic mineral notes and hints of citrus on a bright juicy background, and a long, satisfying finish. Very limited quantity.

The hot and very dry 2020 growing season bestowed on us a smaller-than-usual harvest but some wonderfully ripe and inspiring Chardonnay grapes.  We found several very small lots that were beautifully suited to a “naked” style Chardonnay: primary fermentation in stainless steel and no malolactic (secondary) conversion.  After extensive blending trials of the various lots, the result was a wine of distinction, the simplest and truest possible expression of the variety, vineyard and vintage.   

Food Pairing Ideas:  A perfect accompaniment to cheese trays (especially classic creamy cheeses like Brie and Camembert); salads with Caesar or vinegar-based dressings, with or without chicken or feta; sushi, shellfish, or white fish.
